Welcome to J.R.’s Log House

Restaurant-Front J.R.'s first started serving great barbeque and breakfast in May 1983. However, our history goes back more than 55 years to when "J.R.," Jerry Romano, started cooking and serving pit-cooked barbeque as a teenager in his family's restaurant. The recipes we serve today have been handed down from grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Many were originally part of The Old Hickory House Restaurants, which were an Atlanta institution for more than 50 years. Along with our great barbeque, we cook a variety of fresh daily vegetables and serve breakfast 7 days a week with the biggest biscuits and pancakes you've ever seen. Today, you can still see some of the same employees here who helped us open our doors in 1983.

Meet Tim and J.R.

J.R. and Tim in 1978 J.R. and Tim today

1978 was a year of cultural milestones: The BeeGee's brought us Saturday Night Fever, Kobe Bryant was born, and Tim Shaw went to work for Jerry Romano at The Old Hickory House in Tucker. JR taught Tim everything to know about good food and good service. Now, 35 years later, JR is enjoying golf and grandkids. Tim is the managing partner and JR's is celebrating 30 years at the iconic Norcross log house. And as you can see by the pictures, some things do get better with age! Come celebrate with us!
